Semiotics

Untitled 1

Meaning of signs can be diverse and implemented into conflicting arguments. Semiotics “ are formed through the society that creates them, by the structures they employ and via the sources that they use” (Hall, 2007, P.7 ). Structures are created but based on what, what makes the structure liable for it, why does it have to mean that rather then this. Semiotics signifier is justified and signified however not proven “ Word is the noise for word.” (Barron, 2006).
All signs are different and convey a different meaning, Icon symbols mean it resembles something else, such as a map because it resembles what the map is of.
Index symbols is something that has been caused by something else, an exmaple of this is smoke as it is caused by a fire or bonfire.
Lastly, arbitrary ( learnt ) this could mean handshakes between people but what the symbol means, a handshake could imply friendliness or respect between people, Or the dollar sign symbolises American money.

Semiotics gets hard when other languages mean the same thing and has changed/changes society constanly.

Coming                                        Coming
未来                       Coming
që vjen                     Coming

This is an example of how words can change by not speaking but by just writing.
Other examples of how symbolism can be percieved differently, In some countries when food it left it is seen as rude however in countires such as china it is seen as respect and that you want more.
Signs and symbols are always being altered and changed due reasons such as these.
One of the most used and changed word that would come to my mind is the word "Gay". In the 19th Century it used to be used to explain the feeling of someone being happy, nowadays it is used as an insult and is now recognised for the reasons not used to be.
